Ombuds person
ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH has appointed an ombudsperson with immediate effect as a preventive measure to protect against legal violations. The ombudsperson is available to employees, suppliers, contractors and other interested parties for information and reports regarding legal violations or the company's internal guidelines.
In this function, Prof. Dr Scherer has been available since 1 June 2022 to all of the above-mentioned groups of persons who wish to report criminal offences, other legal violations or violations of internal regulations and codes of conduct within ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH or in the context of their business relationships with ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH.
It also advises on how to deal with possible suspicious circumstances and dangerous situations.
Prof. Dr Josef Scherer works as a lawyer at the law firm Prof. Dr Scherer & Partner mbB, specialising in governance and compliance. He is a professor of corporate law, risk and crisis management, reorganisation and insolvency law at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology and head of the International Institute for Governance, Management, Risk and Compliance.
As a former public prosecutor and judge at the regional court, he has many years of experience in the prevention of legal offences.
Confidential and, if desired, anonymous handling of your information
As a lawyer, the ombudsperson is obliged by professional law to treat the information and tips confidentially.
Personal details of the whistleblower will not be disclosed without their express permission. The confidential treatment of the data also applies to the project officer for the compliance management system and the whistleblower/ ombudsperson system, as well as potential other contact persons in the company (e.g. future compliance officer or compliance committee), or to external investigating authorities.
In this respect, the data can also be protected from seizure in criminal proceedings. There is still no supreme court judgement on this.

Where is the Deutschlandticket valid and where is it not?
The Deutschlandticket is valid on all public transportation in Germany, including in the 2nd class of regional trains. However, the Deutschlandticket is not valid on long-distance trains (IC, EC, ICE) or with other providers like FlixTrain.

How and where can I get the Deutschlandticket?
It is certain that you can purchase the Deutschlandticket as a digital subscription for 58 euros (€63 from January 2026) per month. It can be canceled monthly.
As soon as the ticket is available for purchase, we will inform you – including whether you can purchase it on-site at our Mobility Center or at the Mobility Information desk.

Can I take other people for free?
For children under 6 years old, traveling is still free. Children over 6 years old and adults cannot be taken for free. They need their own ticket.

Is the Germany Ticket transferable?
The Germany Ticket is personal and non-transferable to other individuals. A personalized ticket is valid only for its holder — and only in conjunction with an official photo ID. Your name (in encrypted form), your date of birth (month and year), and your gender are stored on the personalized eTicket chip card.

Can I take my bike for free?
The free transport of bicycles is not automatically included in the Deutschlandticket. This varies depending on the transport company, and the respective local fare regulations apply.
For taking a bicycle on our buses and throughout the RMV fare zone, no additional ticket is required – you can take your bike for free. However, there is no entitlement to bring bicycles or kick scooters. Passengers with wheelchairs or strollers take priority over passengers with bicycles or kick scooters.

Can I take my dog with me for free?
The free transport of dogs or other animals is not automatically included in the Deutschlandticket. This varies depending on the transport company, and the respective local tariff regulations apply.
On buses operated by ESWE Verkehr and other transport companies within the RMV, the Gemeinsame Beförderungsbedingungen (gültig ab 01.01.2022) apply. Under § 11, regarding the transport of animals, you can read the guidelines for taking animals along. It is important to note that guide dogs accompanying blind passengers are always allowed to travel!

Do I need to cancel my subscription for the Germany Ticket?
If you already have a subscription with us, you don't need to do anything! Under no circumstances should you cancel it. You can decide later whether you want to stay with your current subscription or switch to the Germany Ticket. Once a start date for the Germany Ticket is set, we will contact you.
This applies to all subscriptions, such as the Student Ticket, the Senior Ticket Hessen, and also the Company Card/Job Ticket.

Are all the terms of my subscription automatically transferred?
With the Deutschlandticket, our local transportation becomes more accessible for everyone and much more affordable for many. Existing subscriptions do not need to be canceled. You can decide at the appropriate time whether you want to remain on your current subscription or switch to the Deutschlandticket. Special agreements, such as bring-along rules, are not carried over when switching to the Deutschlandticket. Other people, dogs, or bicycles can be taken along for an additional fee (local tariff regulations apply).

Will there be social tariffs or discounts for the Germany Ticket?
The details regarding discounts for students, apprentices, or trainees, as well as regulations for marginally employed individuals, will be determined by the states and transport associations. As soon as results are available, we will inform you immediately.

Is the Germany Ticket also valid for children?
Children under six years old travel for free on public transport and do not need a Germany Ticket. Children over 6 years old must purchase a ticket.
There is the option to buy the cheaper School Ticket Hessen. With this ticket, school-age children can travel throughout Hesse for 365 euros per year. If you don't need the Germany Ticket for your child, you can also purchase this ticket.
