On 3 September 2023, ESWE Verkehr will switch ticket sales in buses to exclusively cashless payment. Anyone wishing to buy a ticket on the bus will then only be able to do so with EC/Girocard or Master and Visa cards. This includes the payment options with the smartphone (Apple Pay/Google Pay).

It will then still be possible to buy tickets with cash at all ticket machines and advance booking offices throughout the city. This also includes the ESWE Verkehr mobility information points at the main station and Luisenplatz as well as the mobility centre at Markstraße 10.

For passengers who do not have their own bank account, ESWE Verkehr is creating a prepaid option. In the course of September, it will be possible to purchase payment cards at ESWE's own mobility centre, which can then be used to purchase bus tickets without cash.

The successor ticket to the 9-Euro-Ticket was agreed by the federal and state governments on 2nd November 2022. The so-called "Deutschlandticket" is available for 49 euro and will apply to local public transport.

The Deutschlandticket ...

  • is available on a subscription basis and can be canceled monthly.
  • is valid throughout Germany on all lines, except long-distance trains (e.g., ICE, IC, EC).
  • is available digitally in the form of an eTicket on a chip card or as a cell phone ticket via app.

As an existing subscriber, please do not cancel your current subscription. We will inform you separately about all (switching) options.

You can buy it in our app.
