The trip tip for the whole family
The Neroberg railway is one of the most popular excursion tips in Hesse and is known throughout Germany as a popular destination. Not only the beautiful view from the Neroberg attracts a large number of visitors from cities such as Frankfurt am Main or Mainz and other places in the region to Wiesbaden every year, but also the many other activities, museums and excursion destinations such as Freudenberg Castle or Biebrich Castle.
Nerobergbahn - a ride on a cultural monument
As a landmark of the city, the Neroberg and the historic railway have been a well-known excursion destination in Wiesbaden since its opening in 1888 and, as a technical cultural monument, the cable car is a real highlight for railway fans. With a total length of 438.5 metres, the cable car overcomes a height difference of 83 metres with an average gradient of 19.5 percent and thus amazes young and old alike.
The Nerobergbahn is the oldest rack-and-pinion railway in Germany powered by water ballast. As a funicular railway, its speed is regulated by a hand brake and the drive is based on gravity using water ballast. A real tip for railway fans looking for beautiful excursion destinations.
Natur, Kunst und Kultur rund um den Neroberg
Noch heute bietet sich den Besuchern des Nerobergs fast das gleiche Bild wie vor mehr als 100 Jahren. Vor einer traumhaften Kulisse steht der Nerobergtempel, unter dem sich zugleich das bergseitige Wasserreservoir der Nerobergbahn befindet. Doch nicht nur der herrliche Weitblick über die Umgebung, den Rhein bis zu den Höhenzügen des Odenwaldes und des Taunus, lockt auf Wiesbadens Hausberg. Nur ein paar Meter weiter befindet sich die Russisch-Orthodoxe Kirche, die mit ihrer goldenen Kuppel über Wiesbaden thront.
Outdoor-Aktivitäten in und um Wiesbaden
Der Neroberg ist auch ein idealer Ausgangspunkt, um in den weiten und stillen Wäldern des Naturparks Rhein-Taunus auf gut ausgebauten Wegen stundenlange Ausflüge und Wanderungen zu unternehmen oder weitere Ausflugsziele zu besuchen. Ein Paradies für Outdoor-Fans: ein Walderlebnispfad, der Kletterwald, eine Gastronomie sowie das Opelbad, eines der schönsten Freibäder Deutschlands, sorgen ebenfalls für die besondere Attraktivität des Nerobergs, den die Wiesbadener liebevoll ihren „Hausberg” nennen. Besucher können aus einer Vielzahl von Aktivitäten auswählen und somit die Umgebung rund um Wiesbaden und weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten wie beispielsweise das Biebricher Schloss entdecken und die schöne Natur der Region und des Taunus genießen.
