Optimally networked as a reliable partner

Wiesbadener ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH, based in the heart of the state capital Wiesbaden, is part of a strong network of diverse partners - both at city level and in various transport associations.

Group relations

The WVV Wiesbaden Holding GmbH Group (WVV Holding) emerged from the reorganisation of Stadtwerke Wiesbaden AG in 2000.

Under the umbrella of WVV Holding, the state capital of Wiesbaden has bundled its shareholdings in Wiesbaden utility, transport and housing construction companies. The company is also active in property management.

The corporate purpose of the WVV Group is the supply of electricity, gas, water and heat, the operation of local public transport, the development and promotion of real estate, the letting of residential property and the provision of information and telecommunications services.

Verkehrsverbund Mainz-Wiesbaden GmbH (VMW) is one of the oldest transport associations in the Federal Republic of Germany. As an association of companies, it has been coordinating public transport in the Wiesbaden/Mainz conurbation since 1975, with almost 100 million passengers a year.

Its shareholders are the two transport companies ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (ESWE Verkehr) and Mainzer Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (MVG).

The VMW is particularly important in its function as an interface between the two transport associations Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) and Rhein-Nahe-Nahverkehrsverbund (RNN). It also forms the interface between Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate with the two state capitals of Wiesbaden and Mainz.

Partners and alliances

The Rhine-Main Transport Association (RMV) is one of the largest transport associations in Europe. More than seven million people live in its catchment area in the federal state of Hesse and neighbouring regions.

The RMV is responsible for the organisation and coordination of regional public transport and for the overall marketing in an area that covers two thirds of Hesse, including the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main conurbation.

Around 160 transport companies operate in the transport association for the benefit of passengers.
RMV has a strong interest in using modern technologies for convenient travelling and is therefore a leader in the field of innovative information and ticketing services.

  • DB Regio
  • Bad Kreuznach transport company
  • Idar-Oberstein transport company
  • Bingen public utilities
  • City transport Ingelheim
  • BRN Busverkehr Rhein-Neckar
  • Herz Reisen

The transport companies Mainzer Verkehrsgesellschaft and ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft as well as the bus company Rheintal-Reisen in Bacharach are RNN's co-operation partners in the Mainz-Wiesbaden Transport Association (VMW).

Rheingau-Taunus-Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH, or RTV for short, is the local public transport company of the Rheingau-Taunus district. Since December 1994, RTV has assumed the statutory duties of the district for the organisation and implementation of local public transport. The shareholders of RTV GmbH are the Rheingau-Taunus district via its holding company and the 17 towns and municipalities in the district. As the public transport authority and ordering organisation, RTV does not own any buses or route concessions.

Mainzer Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (MVG), a subsidiary of Mainzer Stadtwerke AG, is the operator of buses and trams in Mainz and the surrounding area. MVG transports around 180,000 passengers on a school working day and more than 53 million passengers a year.

In addition to the general requirements of operating efficient and economical local transport in the state capital of Mainz, a major city in the Rhine-Main conurbation, MVG's efforts are focussed on the passenger as a customer. The efficiency and success of the company are reflected in the satisfaction and number of passengers.

Certificates and awards

ESWE Verkehr is committed to sustainability and this starts with the choice of electricity provider and tariff. We purchase certified green electricity that is generated from renewable energy sources.

By making this conscious decision, we contribute to climate protection, reduce CO₂ emissions and support the expansion of environmentally friendly energy sources. For us, sustainability is not a trend, but a responsibility that we take seriously - for our environment, our customers and future generations.

By purchasing green electricity, we are making a contribution to an environmentally friendly future.

The ‘Exemplary Mobile’ award is presented by the Wiesbaden Chamber of Industry and Commerce in cooperation with the Gesellschaft für integriertes Verkehrs- und Mobilitätsmanagement Region Frankfurt RheinMain (ivm GmbH) and is an instrument for evaluating a company's operational mobility concept. During the audit, measures and processes are qualitatively assessed. A successful assessment confirms that participating companies or authorities are considered exemplary in corporate mobility management.

ESWE Verkehr was successfully re-audited in 2024. The re-audit is valid for 5 years.

As a member of the ÖKOPROFIT-Klub Wiesbaden, we are integrated into a competent network, which is reflected in the annually documented measures of comprehensive environmental programmes.
